age; also Capt. William Hearne, his brother died 1874." These graves are at Hearnville Academy, where Wm. Howell Hearne was educated, and is 3/4 of a mile from the village of Hearnville, and 4 miles from Godfrey, a railroad town and station.
Ferdinand Lawrence Hearne, was born in Putnam County, Ga., 1822, and was a descendant of the same family as Lot and Seth Hearne. About 1843 he married Miss Daisy Maddox, near Atlanta, Ga. Children: Amanda, born 1844; Richard Lawrence, horn 1847; Samuel Columbus, born 1851 ; Malissa, born 1854; Ella Josephine, born 1856; Charles Fuller, born 1861; Lonnie, born 1865; Quincy Allen, born 1868.
Ferdinand Lawrence Hearne, obtained a good education and taught in the public schools in Georgia till about 1870. He organized and built up a fine school at Hearnville, known as Hearnville Academy, of which he was Principal for 14 years. He then removed to Blount County, Ala., where he continued teaching and farming successfully. He lived near Liberty where he began a Sunday school under a brush arbor, and a Baptist Church was organized about 1872, that grew strong in point of membership, and they finally built a beautiful house for a country church, and it stands as a mighty force in the hands of the Lord today for the promotion of his cause, and a monument to the memory of its founder, Rev. Ferdinand L. Hearne, who in early life united with the Baptist church, and was a faithful member and minister until his death.
Amanda, daughter of F. L. and Daisy Hearne, when about 24 years old, married Mr. William Rose. Children: Walter, Charles and Cora, Walter and Charles both have families and are living in _________, Texas. The mother, Amanda, is living with Walter. Cora died soon after her marriage.
Richard Lawrence, son of F. L. and Daisy Hearne, never married. He went to Texas, farmed several years, then in drug business at Grandview, and is now located at the Masonic Temple, Cleburne, Texas, engaged in active work in Masonry.
Samuel Columbus, son of F. L. and Daisy Hearne, married Miss Mary Ann Hipp, Oct. 27, 1872. Children: Fannie Laura, born Sept. 15, 1873; Lawrence Levi, born May 23, 1875; Thomas Oscar, born Jan. 15, 1877; Charles Lycurgus, born Oct. 25, 1881; Fletcher Earnest, born Sept. 15, 1884; Josephine Effie, born
