None of his children are living, except Martha E., who married a Mr. Ellis, and lives in Macon, Ga.; and Josiah Willis, who lives near McArthur, Ga.

William was killed in battle as a soldier in the Southern Army.

John Hearne died 1883, at his home in Twiggs Co., Ga., and left three children, two boys and one girl.

Amos J. Hearne, son of Jesse, married Miss Nancy E. Brewton, May 17, 1859. Children: Melvina E., born Apr. 4, 1861; Simon Amos, born July 16, 1862; and Charles William, born Apr. 4, 1864. Amos J. Hearne was a cavalry soldier in the Southern Army, and died in the hospital at Savannah, Ga., Apr. 4, 1864, the same day his son Charles W. was born. Melvina E. Hearne married John Rogers, a farmer in Tattnall Co., Ga., Jan., 1885, and they have six children.

Charles William Hearne married Miss Lala Durrence, of Tattnall Co., Ga., Sept. 12, 1895, and they have one child.

Simon Amos Hearne married Miss Della V. Anthony, of Wrightsville, Ga., Dec. 31, 1895; they have two children.

All of Jesse Hearne's descendants belong to the farming community principally, and I believe all are Baptists, except Amos J. and family, who are Southern Methodists, save his daughter, Melvina E. Rogers, who is a Baptist. Amos J. was a steward and class-leader, and his son, Simon Amos is a graduate of Emory College, Oxford, Ga., and a minister in the Methodist Church (South), and has been teaching school some four years; he now has charge of the high school at Blackshear, Ga. He is naturally a mechanic, as is his uncle Josiah Willis Hearne, who is a merchant as well as a farmer.

Josiah W., son of Jesse and Lucity Hearne, married 1860, Miss Mary J. Ray, who died Nov. 19, 1867. Dec. 20, 1868, he married Miss Martha H. Winberly, who was born Sept. 22, 1847. Children: Fanny Paul, born Feb. 27, 1870; James Glover, born Jan. 11, 1873; Jesse William, born July 23, 1879; Peter P., born Aug. 21, 1881; John O., born Nov. 22, 1885; Matilda C., born Apr. 5, 1888; Kayte Morgan, born Mar. 30, 1891.
