Co., Ala. Asa J., son of Moses Hearne, married Catherine Andrews, Sept. 17, 1855. He served as a Confederate soldier through the Civil War, and received a wound from a minnie ball that broke his chin and took out his front teeth, so that he cannot speak plainly. He lives at Grand Saline, Texas, and is a farmer and a licensed minister in the Baptist Church, though he has but a poor education. Children: George J., born July 2, 1857; Sarah J., born Jan. 24, 1860; Louisa M., born Aug. 23, 1863; Malinda A., born Sept. 12, 1865; Asa J., born Mar. 29, 1869; Moses V., born July 31, 1871; Milton J., born Oct. 25, 1873; Nancy E., born May 2, 1875; and James D., born Nov. 4, 1881.

David McD., son of Elisha Hearne, also a farmer and distiller, settled in Talladega Co., Ala., and married Rachel Trussell 1834, by whom he raised ten children. Being a Union man, he went north during the war, and his wife died in Indianapolis, 1864; then he removed to McDonald Co., Mo., where he died a few years after.

William M., son of David and Rachel Hearne, born 1835; settled in Jackson Co., Ark., and died there 1867. He was a farmer, an exceptionally good man, and a member of the Baptist Church; he served four years in the Southern Army. He married Elizabeth Cotton. Children: Jane, Sophia, Lucy, David, Dolly and Dinsey; three of them now live near Franklin, Ark.

Henry, son of David and Rachel Hearne, born Jan. 19, 1837, in Tallageda Co., Ala.; moved to Guntown, Miss., where he now resides; is a merchant and farmer, and an active member of Baptist Church. He married, first, Miss S. M. Bassell. Children: Houston, Sarah C., and Willis B. He married second time, 1866, Margaret A. Linton. Children: Margaret E., Martha A., Olie A., Hessie R., Henry G., Oscar Lee, and Mary R. Margaret E. married Hugh Francis, lives at Lake Creek, Texas. The other children all live at Guntoen, Miss.

Elisha, son of David and Rachel Hearne, born 1839; entered the Confederate Army, was captured at Gettysburg and taken to Fort Delaware, where he died from exposure and neglect.

Mary, fourth child of David and Rachel Hearne, born 1841; died in Lawrence, Kansas, 1866.

Tabitha Ann, fifth child of David and Rachel Hearne, born 1845; married James Smith, 1871, in Izard Co., Ark.
