I met a number of his children on my trip East, 1891. One of these was Mrs. Harriet Cannon, who was living in Laurel, who welcomed me in true "Hearne" style, and who suffers no one to lead her in her devotion to her kindred and love for the name "Hearne," and is thoroughly posted as to the family connection in the East, giving me much valued data for my work. Her older sister, Mrs. Mary Long, wife of Mr. Jesse L. Long, was living in Laurel at the same time, and she also gave me a joyous welcome. She had an only daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Horsey, living with her, who has an only child, Master Charles L. Horsey, a bright little fellow of some eight or ten summers.
Two sons of George Hearne, John M. C. and William C., also live in the vicinity of Laurel and are farmers.
