"My great-grandfather came to Ohio from North Carolina, having been born in Virginia near Salisbury. His name was James Hearne and he brought a large family with him of five sons and two or three daughters." On Apr. 10, 1895 he again wrote, "James Hearne was born at Salisbury, Virginia or North Carolina (the author,WTH, added 'I think it was Maryland or North Carolina') about 1745 and moved to Ohio, near Cincinnati about 1795; he had a family of a SECOND WIFE and four or five sons---"
