BIRTH-DEATH-SPOUSE-MARRIAGE-RESIDENCES-CHILDREN: Heritage of Wise County (see sources) has an excellent article on the Rev. James W. Hill. He was born in 1815, probably in Prince Edward County. He married Lavina W. Hearne in 1839, and had six children in Wythe County. He sold his 700 acres in Giles in October 1855 and moved to Wise County, settling in Bold Camp on 300 acres, later purchasing 200 more acres. This area was called the Jim Hill community until 1920. There, five more children were born. James was a minister, "Methodist Exhorter" or Circuit Rider, and travelled through many Virginia and Kentucky counties. Cited is a Clintwood newspaper obituary clipping which helps to pinpoint the month of death.
