was an extensive fruit grower in Kent Co., England, for the London market, and the business is still carried on by his family, the daughter, Elizabeth, living there now. Henry and Thomas are dead. William Eyles Hearne, born Feb. 11, 1850; came to America 1868, and has visited his old home in England eight times since. He married Miss Cora C. Garven, and they have no children. He is a member of the Episcopal Church, as was his father and grandfather. He is also a Knight Templar in the Masonic Order.
In Nashville, Tennessee, No. 608 Church Street, is this sign: "Hearne & Butler, Gents' Furnishing Goods, Millinery Department Annexed." The Hearne of this firm is named George J. (born 1866), and he is a grandson of Jesse Hearne, an artist and sign painter at Waterford, England, who died at about seventy-two years of age. He had two children, William and Carolina. William was born 1827; married Elizabeth _____ 1858 in England, came to Canada 1860, and to Nashville 1862, and died there 1873. Children: William C., born 1859, lives in California, married, and has a family; Carrie, born 1861, married J. O. Hayes; Jessie, born 1863, married Charles H. Butler; Thomas H., born 1865, married Glennie Bates; George J., born 1866, married Clara Bunn, and has three children; Robert L., born 1868, married Clara Schabble, and has one child; all these except William C., the eldest child, live in Nashville, Tenn.
PATRICK HEARN, born at Kilcooley, Tipperary Co., Ireland; married Mary Quealy, Apr. 14, 1845, emigrated to America Apr., 1847, died Apr. 21, 1879; his wife born June 19, 1815, died Aug. 25, 1872. Children: Patrick S., born Apr. 30, 1846, married Mary Simonite, Apr. 26, 1869; John C., born Dec. 1, 1848, married Lena Raqueth, Sept. 30, 1875; James W., born Apr. 14, 1852, married Mrs. Angeline Green June 5, 1889; Mary, born Aug. 15, 1854; married Richard Bowman Oct. 12, 1876; Thomas Joseph, born May 29, 1860, married Miss Clara Butler, of Sedalia, Mo., Sept. 8, 1888, have one child, Nadine, born Jan. 20, 1890.
THOMAS J. HEARNE lives in Kansas City, Mo., is a traveling salesman for the Hanley & Kinsella Coffee & Spice Company, of St. Louis, Mo., at a salary of $5,000 per year. Patrick Hearn, Sr., the father, passed his life in America at Zanesville, Ohio, where his children all grew up; he was a man of only moderate means, and his boys all started out to do for themselves before reaching their majority, and it is gratifying to know that they all became leaders
