John Elbert, son of George Hearne, born in Stanley Co., N. C, Apr., 1809 Dec., 1849. He married Miss Caroline Sides, who was born June 2,18l5, and moved to Cherokee Co., Ala. Children: Sallie, born Feb. 2, 1838, married John McKinney, a farmer and lives at Navasota, Texas; Catherine, married Milton Ramsey, both of whom are dead, leaving five children: James, married Miss Mollie Fleeman, near Dallas, Texas. and is a cattle man, living in Greer Co., Texas; Julia, married James Phelps, and lives at Itasca, Texas; Lee, a cattle-raiser, lives in Greer Co., Texas; John, married Miss Bell Walden, lives in Greer Co., Texas, and is also a cattleman. Mittie lives at Itasca, Texas. Julius A., born in Cherokee, Ala., Apr. 27, 1841, married Miss Nancy Mallour, of the same place, born Dec. 29, 1846, and lives at Osceola, Texas, a merchant and farmer. Children: James, born 1866, in Cherokee, Ala., married Miss Nellie Weatherel, has a son, Carl, ten years old, and is a farmer and cattle-raiser. living at Osceola, Texas; Belle, born 1869, in Cherokee, Ala., and married Lee Porter, a merchant of Hillsboro, Texas; Callie. born 1873, married Clarence Buchanan, a teacher living at Osceola, Texas; William F., born 1875, is now a student at Baylor University, Waco. Texas. and will be a physician; Leonard. born Jan. 1, 1845, married Miss Charlotte Germany, of Osceola. Texas, he is a farmer, living near there, and has four children: Era, born 1887; Clarence. born 1889: Clara, born 1892; and Allie, born 1894. As far as can be learned, all this family, for generations back, have been Democrats and Methodists, except Leonard Hearne, who is a Presbyterian. Caroline, the widow of Elbert Hearne, now eighty-two years of age (1897), is living at Osceola, Texas.

WILLIAM HEARNE, Son of Joshua and grandson of Nehemiah and Bettie Hearne, born----; settled in early life in Ga; was a farmer and a Methodist preacher. Bv his first wife he had children: John C., Thomas S., Eliza, William P., Benjamin A., James Henry, Joshua Newton, and by his second wife he had nine girls, viz: Malinda, Zina, Elizabeth, Martha, Nancy, Mary, Rachel, Sarah, and Jane. He died in Autaga Co., Ala., Jan. 17, 1852. His son, James Henry Hearne, was born in Fayette Co., Ga., Dec. 25, 1835, and went from there with his father to Ala., where he lived till 1868, when he went to Texas and settled on a farm near Terrell.
