of Gettysburg. Joseph Hearne, another son went to Texas 1855, and was killed at battle of Corinth, a soldier in the Confederate Army. Sarah Jane, daughter of Asa and Easter Hearne, born Mar. 23, 1827; married Robert Henry Guinn, at Weedowee, Ala., Nov. 29, 1846, and shortly after settled at Rusk, Cherokee Co., Texas. Mr. Guinn was a noted criminal lawyer, and was a State Senator 1853 to 1866, and was President protem of the Senate several years; was also member of the Secession Convention 1861. He had an extensive law practice and proved that a man can be a Christian and lawyer at the same time; was a steward in Methodist Church fourteen years, and died Jan. 8, 1888. Children: Heflin S., Callie S., Phileo, William Thomas, John B., Frank Benton, James K., Lee D., Lula J., and Hubbard G. Heflin S., born Sept. 2, 1847, married Mollie L. Horton 1875. He is land agent, surveyor and abstracter at Rusk, Texas, and owns electric light plant and telephone exchange; has one child living, Wallace, born June 28, 1883.

Callie S., born May 26, 1853, married Wm. Reeves Jan. 20, 1876, a farmer and fruit grower near Rusk, Texas; has five children, one of whom Lelia was Sponsor of Sons Confederacy the past two years, and was with the camp at New Orleans 1906. Phileo Guinn, born Dec. 23, 1849, married Mar. 20, 1873, Maggie Ruth Makress, who died 1891, leaving five children. 1894 he married Mary Clay and has four children. They live at Rusk. William Thomas Guinn, born Feb. 16, 1857, married 1884 Laura Cameron, and died at his home in Rusk, Nov. 12, 1902, leaving five children, John B. Guinn, married Anna Tucker, Nov. 24, 1886, is a merchant at Rusk and has five children. Frank B. Guinn, born May 29, 1855, married Dec. 7, 1882, Mary Pope Aycock. He is a lawyer, county attorney (at Rusk) three years, county judge four years, and elected to Legislature 1904. His wife died Dec. 17, 1899 leaving four children. Feb 18, 1903 he married Stella E. Cox of Stephenville, Texas, and has one child, Mildred, born______. James K. Guinn, born Jan. 5, 1859, married Jan. 18, 1882, Miss Belle Miller, and is a merchant at Hughes Springs, Texas, and has five children. Lee D. Guinn, born Jan. 22, 1863, married Aug. 11, 1891, Florence Crittenden of Alto, Texas. 1887 he graduated at medical college, Louisville, Ky.; practiced medicine for a time and studied law and is now a practitioner, has served as county
