present year, and in Aug. he visited North Carolina, accompanied by his faithful wife; but, realizing that his case was hopeless, he returned to Alabama to die.

Emily, daughter of Thomas and Abigail Hearne, born June 3, 1816. 1834 she married James Powell, who only lived a few years; and 1841 she married George E. Harbison. Children: Mary Susan, born September 4, 1842; Franklin A., born Jan. 30 1846; and Emma, born June 8, 1854. Geo. E. Harbison lived and died on a farm of 1200 acres near Lowdnesboro, Ala. His daughter Emma still owns the homestead and lives there now, 1906. When on a visit there, 1901, I learned that previous to the Civil War, that for a stretch of twenty miles almost every other house was a Hearne; and it is rich and productive land.

Mary Susan married Penniman Marvin 1859. Children: Cynthia A., born Apr. 11, 1860; Janet, born June 20, 1861; Will Rinalde, born Feb. 7, 1865; and Emma, born Aug. 29, 1866. Cynthia A. Marvin married William Wade Ware Sept. 4, 1881. Janet Marvin married Robert E. McCain, Nov. 15, 1887. Emma Marvin married Thomas C. Williams, Nov. 15, 1887. Children: Penniman Marvin, born Jan. 2, 1893, and Eliza Frances, born Aug. 24, 1895.

Franklin A. Harbison married Miss Mary Vardelle, 1872, and lives in Kyle, Texas. Children: Emma Bettie, Emily Rebecca, Milton Vardelle, Franklin, and Johnnie May.

Priscilla Winn, daughter of Thomas and Abigail Hearne, born March, 1821; married Walter C. Whitman 1841; died in Nashville, Tenn., Nov. 17, 1899. She had two children. The eldest, Dora, born Dec., 1844, married Dec., 1875, her cousin, Albert F. Whitman, a prominent lawyer of Nashville, Tenn., where they now live. Children: Texie E., born Aug. 1882; died Apr., 1902; and Willie F., born Dec. 1883. The second child of Priscilla and Walter C. Whitman, Thomas K., born June, 1846, and lives near Auburn, Ala. He married Nov., 1870, Ella H. Edwards. Children: (1) D. Pearl, born Dec. 25 1871; married Oct., 1890, S. Frank Houston, of Selma, Ala; Children: Sam Frank, born Aug. 1891; Marguerite, born Feb., 1895. (2) Andrew, born May, 1874; graduated
