and amassed quite a fortune, and has just built a $12,000 brick residence in South Bluefield, W. Va. He was married Dec. 26, 1882, to Miss Sallie Louise White. Children: Edwithe Pearis, born Apr. 19, 1887; William Oswell, born Sept. 23, 1889; Virginia Catherine, born May 13, 1891; Effie Elizabeth, born Sept. 12, 1892; Carrie Louise, born Apr. 18, 1894; Raymond Lee, born Dec., 1901; Nellie Sutton, born Mar. 26, 1903. In religion part of the family are Methodists, and part Presbyterians. Alonzo G., son of James and Esther C. Hearn, born 1864. Has been married twice, has one son, Everett, by first marriage, and three by the last. He lives at Ada, Mercer Co., W. Va. He is a music teacher, and also railroad man, a Methodist and Republican. V. Jane, daughter of James and Esther C. Hearn, born 1867, married Thomas Viax. Children: Susan, born 1888, and Willie (girl), born 1898. They live on their farm north of Ada, W. Va., and are prosperous. Quindora, daughter of James and Esther C. Hearn, born ; 1871, married J. T. Akers, a merchant of Bluefield, W. Va. Children: Oscar, born 1889, Ora, born 189i; Mary, born I899, and Nellie, born 1901. ANDREW, son of Levi Griffin and Aura White Hearn, born May 16. 1841, was raised on a farm. He enlisted in the First Company of Volunteers in Mercer Co., W. Va., for the Confederate army and served the four years of the war. Was in many of the hardest fought battles. He married Martha C. Bruce July 13, 1870, and went to farming, but has been in the mercantile business also, quite a good deal at different places., He was a member of the Oakvale Grocery Co. (wholesale) from 1897 to 1903. He is a Methodist and Democrat. He was judge of the County Court from 1890 to 1896. He was always prosperous, and has fine property now. Children: Mary Josephine, born Nov. 30, 1871; Sarah Alice. born June 14, 1873; Aura Elizabeth, born Nov. 30, 1876; Lulu Ann, born Oct 21, 1879; Dora Lacy, born Aug. 13, 1882; Harvey Cleveland, born Aug. 23, 1886; John Anson, born May 13, 1891; Gilbert Bryan, born Sept. 27, 1895. Mary Josephine married Jacob Brown, 1893, a prosperous farmer, and have two children, Bessie and Nelly. Sarah Alice married Garfield Light 1901, and live in Columbus, O. Aura Elizabeth married Bud Shumate, two children, Lulu May and Guy. She died 1895. Dora
