Church South and contributed liberally for the support of the ministry. Her home was always a favorite place with the ministers of her church.

Louisa F., daughter of Ebenezer and Betsy (Turner) Hearne, born Jan. 29, 1824; married Thomas Edwards and died 1874. Children: William T., Rufus J., and Mattie. The whole family were members of the Methodist Episcopal Church South and were upright and true to their religious and social duties. Mrs. Edwards was one of the purest of women. She was a most superb housekeeper. Her home was a model of neatness and cleanliness. She regulated all her domestic affairs according to the most systematic and yet unpretentious manner. By her care and use of the talents which were entrusted to her and the assistance which she rendered him, her husband became a man of means.

Orin D., son of Ebenezer and Betsy (Turner) Hearne, born Dec. 11, 1827, lives in Wilson Co., Tenn. He loves the land of his nativity and is tbe only member of a large family who lives near the dear old home, where father, mother, and kindred are buried. This is sell, that some one of the family should stand as a sentinel near this hallowed spot, that the ploughshare of the stranger may not ruthlessly tear away the blue-grass and the box-vine which were planted there by tender hands ere they were laid to rest there. He is a skillful farmer and a man of means. He married Miss Delia Huddleston, a most estimable lady. Children: Robert, E. Vallie, M. Orie, Walter W., and Bessie. These are all interesting and promising children. The parents and rnost of the children are members of the Methodist Church South. Orin D, Hearne was a Whig, but is flaw a Democrat. He volunteered in the Seventh Tennessee (Bob Hatten's) Regiment and served in the Army of Virginia during the late war between the States.

William E. Hearne, born Sept. 10, 1817, died Sept. 11, 1852. He was a son of Ebenezer and Betsy (Turner) Hearne. He married Ellen Johnston, 1841. He was comparatively a young man when he died, leaving his bereaved wife and four small children. The writer of this brief outline of his character and career, now forty-two years removed from that sad occurrence,
