but very unlike him in most all else. He was strickly upright in his life and dealings with his fellow men, was full of life and humor, and had a great store of jokes that he always delighted his friends with; it was sometimes painful to see the fun and jokes he played on his brother William; fishing with hook and line was one of his greatest enjoyments, and indulged in by him till death. He was pasionately fond of euchre, and when at home usually put in about three nights of the week at that game, or checkers, with his neighbors, Isaac Shelby and U. S. Senator Jas. B. Beck, either at his home or theirs. He died in Georgetown, Ky., Jany. 12, 1871, from the effects of a fall, at the house of his niece, Mrs. Eva (Ward) Moore. He outlived all of Clement Hearne's children, and left a fine estate that was divided among his relatives. He was buried at Lexington, Ky.

MINOS, son of Clement and Keziah Hearne, born in Delaware, Dec. 21, 1795, married in early life Malinda Chinn. Children: John C., born Feby. 20, 1825; Eliza, born 1827, and Scytha Davis, born 1831. His wife died and he married Mrs. Ann Yancey, by whom he had two daughters. Lavinia married Dr. Priest and died in Hannibal, Mo. Sarah died when about twelve years of age. Minos Hearne was a prosperous merchant and died Apr. 17, 1837, at his home in Nicholasville, Ky., and was buried there. John C., son of Minos Hearne, born Feby. 20, 1825, was a carpenter by trade, a fine workman, and quite a genius. Married, 1846, Priscilla Wilmot, who was born 1826. He settled in Pleasant Hill, Mo.,1848, and raised a family of eight children. His life was a checkered one; made several important inventions, but for lack of means never succeeded in realizing anything out of them. He served as a Confederate soldier during the Civil War and had two sons also in the Confederate army, and died a poor man Apr. 13, 1877. His wife died Oct. 16, 1889. Children: James Fletcher, born Jany. 5, 1848; John William, born July 4, 1850; Thomas Esger, born Aug. 10, 1853; Benjamin Franklin, born Aug. 5, 1855, and Scytha Ann, born Jany. 17, 1858.

JOHN W., son of John C. Hearne, Married Oct. 8, 1876, in Butler Co., Kas., near Leon, and lived there until 1894, when he moved to Kildare, Oklahoma, and afterwards to Anadarko.
