From the obituary of Rev. John Williams:
“He was a student, a scholar, a sound theologian, a clear thinker and a faithful pastor. He was a college class-mate of Rev. G. E. Leonard, now at Granville, O., General Jefferson Brumback. of Kansas City, and Rev. J. M. Scarff, of Bethany, N. Y. These three are the only surviving members of the eight members of the class of ‘52.
Margaret Williams, the youngest child of Mary and Robert Williams, born Oct. 14, 1827, died Dec. 28, 1849. In early life she united with Baptist church, and like Miss Vesta Williams, was a devoted and earnest Christian, and it can be truthfully said the lives of both were beautiful and consistent, but alas, cut down so young.
From what my mother has told me, and from old letters I have gotten the impression that our early Hearne relatives in Delaware were many of them Methodists, and in politics largely Democrats. But from my grandparents (Mary Hearne and Robert Williams) down, with very few exceptions, all are Baptists and in politics Republican. -- L. C. R.
