entered Baker University at Baldwin, Kas., Sept., 1889, and graduated therefrom June, 1893. Entered Law Department of University of Michigan same fall, but in a few months his convictions led him to enter the ministry of the Methodist Church in Spring of 1894. Has filled various pastorates since, and is now pastor of First Methodist Church, Duluth, Minn. He is already a D. D., and has reached the top round as an able and eloquent minister of the gospel and pastor of the largest church in the Western country. Apr. 3, 1895, be married Miss Laura Buckner of Baldwin, Kas., and tliey have two sons, Eugene Malcolm, born July 4. 1897, and Allen Buckner, born June 27, 1901. Cyrus O. Rice, the youngest son, is a leading musician of Kansas City and holds a good position with the Jenkins music establishment, 1013 Walnut street. His wife was Miss Ella Bell of Americus, Kas., and they have no children. Edwin T. Rice is married and lives in Golden City, Mo. I have been unable to get any data of him. Rev. Cyrus Rice, father of these sons, has been fifty-two years in the ministry (1906), and has now practically retired from active work and living quietly with his wife on their little farm, “Rice’s Rest,” near Hartford, Kas.

Jane, daughter of James P. and Casendana (Hearne) Rice, born in Henry Co.. Tenn. Apr. 9. 1835, married Archibald E. Mills July 31. 1851, died Feb. 12, 1866. Children: James Russell, born July 26, 1852, died July 9. 1882, leaving eight children, four boys and four girls. Next child, John M., born Nov. 10. 1854, and has four children, two boys and two girls. Next child, Cyrus R. Mills, born Apr. 9, 1857, died Jan., 1886, leaving one child, a daughter. Next child, Gaddis Mills, born Dec. 3, 1859, and has three children, one boy and two girls. Archie Mills and family about all live in Dunklin Co., Mo., and their postoffice is Campbell. Caddis S. Mills is a Methodist minister.

David, son of James P. and Casendana (Hearne) Rice, born in Henry Co., Tenn., Mar. 20, 1837, married Jane Hamel, May 6, 1856, she was born May 9, 1837. Children: Lucretia, born Mar. 20, 1857, married John B. Cook of Senath, Mo., Jan. 4, 1874, and has two children; Rosetta, born Apr. 17, 1876, and Christopher C., born July 25. 1879. Rosetta Cook married William Haislip Dec. 25. 1891, and has one child, Ezra. The second child of David and Jane Rice, F. Joe, born Dec. 3, 1858, married, first,
