Dr. Chas. E. Mitchell graduated at the Louisville Medical College, 1879, and located at Cedar Rapids. Iowa, and soon had a fine practice, and later removed to Burlington Junction, Mo., where he is continuing his practice with a bright future before him. Isaac L. Mitchell married Henrietta G. Davis of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Feb. 20. 1892; children: Edward Harcourt, born Feb. 20, 1893, Doris E.. born Apr. 4. 1895, and Donald George, born Dec. 1, 1899. Mr. Mitchell, with others, has incorporated the Cedar Rapids Transfer Co., of which he is general manager, secretary and treasurer. It is doing an immense business. Their warehouse and cold storage has a capacity of four hundred car loads of implements and merchandise. They have also a brokerage department, under tbe personal supervision of Mr. Mitchell, handling several train loads of sugar, besides a large amount of canned goods from vegetables to sardines. Edward Hearne Mitchell is a traveling man and located at Cedar Rapids.
Georgia E.. daughter of Elizabeth L. and Isaac W. Mitchell, died June 28, 1897, at the borne of her brothers. Dr. C. F. and E. H. Mitchell, Kenwood Park. Cedar Rapids. Iowa. She had spent the winter there with her brothers, and was a great sufferer from inflammatory rheumatism, which finally ended her life. She was one of the purest and best of earth, a dutiful, loving and faithful child and sister. She was convened when fifteen years of age, and united with the Baptist church at Windsor, Missouri, and lived a devoted Christian life till the Master called her home.
For this data and history I am indebted to the mother, Mrs. Elizabeth L. Mitchell, a most lovely Christian, and quite an enthusiast on the family and ancestry.
April 12, 1895, I received the following from Miss Sallie Dixon, Temperanceville. Accomack Co., Virginia:
I am the daughter of George Dixon, who married Elizabeth Hearne, 1859: she is the daughter of Bennie and Polly Hearne, brother and sister to Thomas and Nancy Hearne, of Keosauqua. Iowa. Bennie Hearne was born Jan. 25. 1794, died May, 1868. He was married twice, and my mother is one of his second wife’s children. His first wife was Folly Kelly, and the second, Folly Jackson, daughter of Bradley and Elizabeth Jackson, and she died Feb.
