"His excellent wife died some three years ago, so he has left a young and interesting family, composed of five sons and two daughters, henceforth to be destitute both of a father’s protection and solicitude and of a mother’s instruction and watchfulness. We ask in their behalf the prayers of the pious. May the God of their father and mother be their constant protector and early incline their youthful hearts to love and serve Him.

Ichabod D, Hearne was an exceptionally good man in all respects, and a very successful farmer, leaving a good estate at his death. His two oldest sons, Spencer and Noah, were carpenters as well as farmers. Cadmus was a cabinet maker and wheelwright. David I. went to Mississippi, before the war, to clerk in a hotel. He served through the war as a Confederate soldier, and was severely wounded at the battle of Shiloh. After tbe war he came to Missouri and married Bettie N. Hughes, of Sedalia, and has two children: George Prentice, born Nov. 14, 1874. and Lee Richard, born May 12, 1878.

John A. S., who married Alice Catlin, has four children: Edward Ichabod, Albert Sidney, Ernest and Archie.

Elizabeth L., who married Isaac W. Mitchell 1852, moved to Washington, D. C.. 1853, and 1855 removed to Springfield, Missouri and now lives in Windsor, Henry County, Mo.; children: Charles F., born Sept. 20, 1853: Lulu Anna, born Jan. 4, 1858; Edward Hearne, born Sept. 22, 1861; Isaac Lemmon, born Mar. 17, 1868; Georgia Etta, born Nov. 23, 1872; Hattie Belle, born Aug. 14, 1874; Grace Lillian, born Apr. 6, 1878; James Cadmus, born Nov. 23, 1879.

Edward H. married Laura A. Clock, of Geneva, Iowa, June 13, 1889. They had one child, Edward Vivian, born Sept. 24, 1890. His wife died July 1, 1892, and he married Miss Roberta J. Needham, July 16, 1903.

Hattie Belle Mitchell married Everett A. Howey, May 7, 3903, and lives at Jessup, Iowa, and has one child, Helen Frances, born Aug. 12, 1904.

Grace Lillian Mitchell married Walter R. Kensinger of Cedar
