president of the board; he is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He died May 20, 1906. Dr. E. Roland Hearne lives in Philadelphia, where he is a prominent and successful member of the dental profession and demonstrator of dentistry in the Pennsylvania College of Dental Surgery.

Charles Sheppard, son of Geo. W. and Mary Priscilla Cannon Hearne, was born in Laurel, Delaware, Jan. 8, 1863. He received his education in the public and private schools of Laurel and Wilmmgton, and at the Wilmington Conference Academy, Dover, Del., and then at Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, where he graduated at the head of his class. He remained as resident physician in Jefferson Medical Hospital for one year, and then established a practice in the city for himself most successfully. For a number of years he has made a specialty of diseases of the nose, throat and ear. His home is at 3221 Race street, Philadelphia, and office in the Blenheim, 1632 Chestnut street. June 4, 1901, he married Miss May Constance Norton of Philadelpbia, daughter of Dr. Claude R. Norton, and their children are: Constance Mary, born May 25, 1902; Aileen Ray, born Aug. 13, 1904, and Carolyn, born Sept. 26, 1905.
