Around 1885 (when Hattie was a baby)...James and Mary divorce...by 1887 Mary remarries again to a mr James Scott and lived at Ft Chriswell in Wythe Co....and it was there that I found in 1900:

listed as step children of James Scott...Mary has 5 other children with James Scott...she is showing 11 children from two marriages. Her 1st husband James A. Thompson died in 1897. On Dec 25 1904 Hattie marries C.L.Thomas in Wythe Co and moved to Bland...Andrew and Birtie and their dau Nannie, move from Wythe to Roanoke and are Living with James William and his wife. and in 1920 Andrew M. and Birtie have 4 children by then......Nannie S.,Ossie, Maggie and Nellie G. Tony Eaton lists the original data from the Bible as follows:

"...Aunt Mag Thompson, sister to my great-grandmother married James William (Bud) Thompson who had been married previously and had some children, he was from Bland Co, VA. When Uncle Bud died another aunt bought their home in Roanoke and in it she found an old Bible, which she gave to me several years ago. It was in terrible shape and I discarded it except for the Family record page which I still have. It includes the following names: J. W. Thompson 11/23/1870; M. M. Bland ... 8/12/1869; I. B. Thompson 8/15/1885; H.H. Thompson 10/1/1887; M. E. Thompson 5/6/1892; J. A. Thompson 10/10/1844-10/19/1897 (Father); N. E. Thompson 8/5/1873;A. M.
